Environmental Policy

We know that our operations have an impact on the environment. In the context of our responsibility we aim to minimise this impact by establishing, promoting, monitoring and continuously improving our environmental policy. We have proven in practice our commitment by opting for environmentally aware interventions when we moved to our new office building, despite the higher investment cost, and by actively endorsing and supporting several focused recycling and energy efficiency specific initiatives.
The values and principles on which our environmental policy is founded are:

  • The minimisation of the environmental impact of each specific operation or activity as seen in a holistic context;
  • The active development of an environmentally aware company-wide culture and the active endorsement and support of employee initiatives;
  • The active, self-disciplined compliance with environmental regulations and laws.

We are committed to constantly evaluate all our operating procedures aiming to continuously improve their environmental performance in such areas as:

  • Overall energy efficiency;
  • Waste minimisation and recycling;
  • Water consumption;
  • Travel reduction.

In this context we have taken and we will continue to implement specific measures and practical initiatives:

  • Promotion of minimum-print job practices to reduce paper and toner consumption; promotion of good practices such as black and white only double sided printing on recycled paper where printing is unavoidable.
  • Organised recycling of all paper waste and ink cartridges.
  • Usage of rechargeable batteries for small office equipment and organised disposal and recycling of batteries.
  • Organised recycling of all cardboard, paper, metal, glass and plastic packaging.
  • Use of filtered tap water instead of bottled drinking water in water coolers.
  • Procurement of green electricity from certified energy suppliers.
  • Reduction of the usage of air-conditioning and heating.
  • Use of energy efficient lamps and procurement of energy efficient equipment.
  • Substitution of travel with video-conferences.
  • Specific interventions concerning the environmental efficiency of our offices building, including better water management, energy efficient window panes, substitution of electricity driven heating with natural gas etc.

Our aim is to further improve our environmental efficiency in the future by planning specific actions:

  • Establishing a system of monitoring indicators in order to quantify our environmental performance;
  • Further improve our building’s passive energy efficiency;
  • Invest in renewable energy sources such as roof top solar energy;
  • Further improve our employees’ environmental behaviour by raising awareness and best everyday practices in a coordinated way;
  • Promotion of our environmental values to our business partners.
