Agilis is a statistics and information technology consulting firm with international activity in the field of official statistics. We are committed to providing specialised statistical and software engineering services to any organisation involved in the production and delivery of statistical information. Our customers collect, produce, use or deliver official statistics or statistics in related fields, such as policy making, economic and social research, or scientific research. They range from national statistical offices, government administrations and public sector agencies to international organisations; and from central banks to research institutes, NGO’s or private companies.
Job description
Our statisticians work across various statistical domains, ranging from survey design and actual data collection to methodological advice, data quality, data analysis and statistical publications.
New members of our team should have an excellent theoretical background and be able to apply it in creative ways to diverse practical problems ranging from survey and sampling design to data analysis and from management of large scale statistical production processes to the qualitative interpretation of statistical findings. They are expected to follow research and innovation trends in the field and be willing to experiment with new ideas and methods.
The position requires frequent travel for meetings and presentations and fluent usage of English as working language.
Qualifications
The candidate should have a first level university degree in Statistics or Applied Mathematics and an M.Sc. (or higher) degree in Statistics.
Apart from a formal academic background in Statistics, the ideal candidate should preferably have computational skills (such as in R, SAS or generic programming languages); data management skills (in Excel and SQL); the ability to write scientific / technical and methodological documents and reports and the ability to present, interpret and comment on statistical data, in high quality fluent English; the ability to present findings to audiences of various backgrounds; the ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team as well as the ability to work independently and under pressure when necessary.
Previous work experience is desirable but not necessary, while postgraduate experience in scientific research or academia is desirable.
